Welcome to the Nebraska LELN!!

The LELN webpages will be a growing hub of information that will include meeting agendas, notes, and resources shared from LELN participants who are voluntarily part of this growing network of support in Nebraska.

All LELN gatherings are held bi-monthly and are free and accessible to all.

The Nebraska LELN is a budding, grassroots network created through the Office of Consumer Affairs (OCA) and with the help of the regional consumer specialists. The LELN is designed to bring together behavioral and mental health service providers and community members who are advocates, consumers, and/or are engaged in work that supports mental and behavioral health, recovery, and shining light on stigma. The LELN shares resources whilst working actively towards real-life solutions. We also simply connect as humans.

The OCA is committed to ensuring the voice of the consumer of behavioral and mental health services is heard, valued, uplifted, and supported. The OCA Administrator is a person with lived-experience in recovery and mental health needs and is a passionate advocate for shining a light on stigma while supporting recovery-oriented, community-based services.

The Division of Behavioral Health (DBH) and the OCA alike understand that we are all powerful as individuals and better able to help each other within our community support systems. DBH doesn't have all the solutions, but as a collective, we do. DBH and OCA are committed to being present throughout the state of Nebraska while also removing unnecessary barriers between those of us doing the work and looking for support and solutions. To create a bridge to support systems one can discover within one's own community is a gift that OCA gets to be involved in first-hand, and the LELN is a tool for us to achieve this goal.

The OCA manages the state certification, training, and curriculum for Certified Peer Support Specialist support, which provides peer support, non-clinical, strengths-based assistance offered by individuals with lived experience to help others through shared understanding, encouragement, and connection to resources

The OCA also manages the Recovery Friendly Workplace Initiative (RFW). RFW is a FREE new program that goes into businesses and provides destigmatizing education on mental health, substance use, and addiction. As part of this program, organizations also complete a policy review to find routes for more systemic support for their employees.
