What you need to know

​​​​​​​​Peer Support Specialist's and the Promulgation of 206 Regulations

​All current Certified Peer Support Specialists(CPSS) will receive an email from the Office of Consumer Affairs regarding the signing of the Division of Behavioral Health's Title 206 regulations on June 27, 2021.  Upon receipt of this email, the CPSS then must reply to the email by August 16, 2021, which will serve as the Grandfather application for you to be grandfathered. Once this email has been received by the Office of Consumer Affairs an updated CPSS certification card with revised effective and expiration dates will be emailed to the CPSS. 

An individual that holds a State of Nebraska issued Certified Peer Support and Wellness Specialist (CPSWS) certificate of completion and meets designated criteria have until September 27, 2021, to submit the online Grandfather application for consideration of being Grandfathered to take the Peer Recovery exam and become certified as a CPSS.  A CPSWS certificate holder who is approved to be Grandfathered will NOT be required to take a State of Nebraska CPSS Core Curriculum training.  They WILL be required to successfully complete the Peer Recovery exam within 90 days from the date the IC&RC emails the applicant the exam registration information.

Behavioral Health Training Opportunities

We are pleased to announce that the Behavioral Health Trainings Website is now available.  You can view upcoming trainings, register for trainings, and also view the recordings of prior trainings that have occurred.

Behavioral health trainings shared on this site are produced in partnership with the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services Division of Behavioral Health and the University of Nebraska Public Policy Center. The trainings, which are designed specifically for mental health professionals and practitioners, cover specific areas related to behavioral health, ranging from understanding psychosis to working with justice-involved populations. The Division of Behavioral Health Office of Consumer Affairs also sponsors trainings for peer support specialists, providers, consumers, and families.
