What you need to know

Fee Increase

Effective September 1, 2026, the fee for completing a Central Registry background check will increase from $3.00 to $5.00. The optional identity verification fee for online requests will increase from $1.00 to $1.50. ​


Fees and Payments​

  • Central Registry Request fee: $5.00
  • Online verification Fee: $1.50
  • Online Processing Fee: $1.50
  • Business or Organization have the option to cover associated fees for their Applicants
  • Payment is required before any Check Request can be submitted to DHHS
  • Central Registry background checks submitted via US mail should follow the below instructions:
    • Mail your completed Central Registry Check Request to:
      • DHHS-Accounting
        PO Box 94906
        Lincoln, Ne 68509
    • Make Checks payable to:
      • Department of Health and Human Services in the amount of $5.00​ per release form
