Electronic Submission of Immunization Records
The electronic reporting of immunization data is a public health core objective for eligible hospitals, critical access hospitals (CAH), and eligible professionals attesting to Stage 3 Meaningful Use (MU).
The Nebraska State Immunization Information System (NESIIS) is an immunization system designed to consolidate patient immunization records into one complete, accurate and definitive immunization record.
NESIIS is able to do the following:
- Uni-directional Data Exchange
- Bi-directional Data Exchange
What is bi-directional exchange? In order to be bi-directional with NESIIS, you must be able to query patient records in NESIIS from within your EHR interface. An example of this would be pulling up a record in your EHR, then clicking a button to query NESIIS for that same person's record to see if additional information can be found.
For more information regarding bi-directional data exchange with NESIIS please contact our Help Desk at 402-471-0133, toll-free line 888-433-2510, or dhhs.nesiis@nebraska.gov.
Information on bi-directional support is found within our HL7 specifications.
