Behavioral Technician

Provides continuous intensive behavioral modification, trauma-focused interventions, residential care, custody, and supervision of youth that are often high-acuity, at a 24 hour state facility located in Lincoln, NE.

Minimum Requirements: 

  • Must be at least 21 years of age, 
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent education. 
  • Related coursework/training experience: behavioral sciences, counseling and guidance, rehabilitation/treatment services, education, nursing/patient care, delinquency prevention, criminal justice, or related area. 
  • Possess a valid Driver's license with the ability to become an authorized vehicle driver for the State of Nebraska.


Child and Family Services Specialist

In this position, you will serve as a case manager for families referred to our agency. As a Child and Family Services Specialist, you will: Investigate allegations of abuse/neglect, visit homes, conduct safety assessments, establish safety plans, and initiate court interventions. Opportunities are Statewide.

A Bachelors degree in social work, psychology, sociology, counseling, human development, mental health care, education, criminal justice or other closely related area. Consideration will be given to applicants who will receive a Bachelor's degree within 90 days of the open position closing date. 



Developmental Technicians

Provide direct support to individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities at our Beatrice State Developmental Center. Administer medication and treatment, observe for adverse reactions, and accurately chart pertinent information in writing. 

Must be at least 18 years of age, and possess a valid driver's license.

OTHER: Hired candidates must successfully complete Basic Support and Facilitated Learning training within six months of employment. Valid driver's license required. 



Eligibility Operation Workers

This position is essential in providing Nebraskan's access to programs and assistance. On a day-to-day basis you will be reviewing applications for assistance and determining eligibility, which may include interaction via telephone in order to collect, verify, or update financial and demographic information. We have statewide opportunities available.

Experience in customer service, determining eligibility for public assistance, examining/processing financial loan applications, medical or unemployment insurance or rehabilitation claims, unemployment services OR 24 semester hours of post high school education in behavioral sciences, public/business administration, social sciences, education or closely related field OR a combination of education and experience in any of the above areas. 



Mental Health Security Specialists II

The Mental Health Security Specialists will work directly with the adult patient population to ensure not only safety of the individuals served but provide a safe and therapeutic living environment as well. The responsibilities of this position also include encouraging participation in treatment, modeling appropriate interactions, documentation of efforts or areas of concern. Located in Lincoln, NE.

Must be at least 19 years of age to work with adult client populations and possess a valid driver's license or independent authorized transportation. 



Nurses

DHHS has opportunities for nurses in any of our 6 different divisions. Provide Psychiatric Nursing care utilizing a holistic approach with the patients at several of our 24-hour facilities, utilize your nursing expertise to inspect and survey home health agencies and/or long-term care facilities, or provide professional nursing care for disabled individuals while providing clinical guidance to direct care staff.

  • Requirements for Registered Nurse: A current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Nebraska or authority based on the Nurse Licensure Compact to practice as a registered nurse in Nebraska. Will consider candidates eligible for license within 3 months of application.
  • Requirements for Nurse Surveyors: Post high school coursework/training in professional nursing AND Experience in hospital, public health or nursing administration, teaching or surveying health care facilities. A current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Nebraska or authority based on the Nurse Licensure Compact to practice as a registered nurse in Nebraska.
  • A current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Nebraska or authority based on the Nurse Licensure Compact to practice as a Registered nurse in Nebraska and one year of relevant experience.  ​


Youth Program Specialist

As a Youth Program Specialist II, you will supervise youth in daily and evening activities which include school, recreation, and meal times, document behavior, respond to crisis situations, and serve as a role model to the youth. May be required to transport youth. Opportunities in both Kearney and Geneva.

Must be at least 21 years of age and possess a high school diploma or equivalent and a valid driver's license. 



Youth Security Specialist II

Responsible for providing direct supervision of adolescents by maintaining a secure, safe and clean environment, completing scheduled unit walks, intervening during emergency/crisis situations using the Handle with Care system, maintaining professional boundaries to provide a therapeutic environment for youth during interactions instructing.

Must be at least 21 years of age and possess a high school diploma or equivalent and valid drivers' license.
