A key part of the treatment plan at the YRTC-Hastings is the educational program. YRTC-H operates an on-campus junior/senior high school for female juveniles. The Nebraska Department of Education has accredited the education program as a special purpose school. The school operates year-round.
The school program offers:
- Academic, core, and elective classes
- Title I and Special Education Services/Read 180 & Math 180
- MAPS testing in Reading and Math
- Guidance counseling for college and career interests
- Access to Vocational Rehabilitation/Department of Labor services
- ACT testing
- College classes through Southeast Community College, Metro Community College, and other colleges/universities as needed
The school program centers on courses that are required areas for graduation in Nebraska. Youth can receive their high school diploma while at the YRTC with required credits earned.
YRTC-Hastings offers an eight-week summer school program emphasizing courses online with APEX. Each class meets the required number of hours to equal a full semester of regular schoolwork.
West Hastings School will be accredited through Nebraska Frameworks as a Rule 10 School in 2023.
