EMS Service Rewewals DUE DECEMBER 31, 2022

All licensed EMS Services in the State of Nebraska will be expiring on December 31, 2022. 

Renewal applications must be submitted no later than midnight on 12/31/2022.  Late applications WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.  If you fail to submit your application on time, your EMS Service license will no longer be active, your service will be unable to take calls, and the service will need to reapply for licensure. 

The EMS Office will only contact you if there are questions on your renewal form.  Please allow 10 business days for your license to be renewed.  You will be able to verify that your license has been renewed here:  https://www.nebraska.gov/LISSearch/search.cgi.

Nebraska Governor Pete Ricketts has issued Executive Order 22-05 extending Executive Order 22-02 until December 31, 2022.  Waivers and conditions within Executive Orders 21-12 & 21-15 will remain in effect until December 31, 2022. View the Executive Order. ​

The State of Nebraska licenses all​ Emergency Medical Responders, Emergency Medical Technician, Advanced Emergency Medical Technicians, Emergency Medical Technician - Intermediate, Paramedic, Basic and Advanced Life Support Emergency Medical Services, EMS Instructors, and Basic and Advanced Training Agencies. 

Applications and supporting documents are preferred to be completed, signed, and sent electronically to the email address listed on the application.  Please follow all directions to ensure there or no delays in processing your application. 

Note:  There is a $35.00 fee for all Reinstatement Applications.

Military Spouse Temporary Credential

Military Sp​ouse​​​​ Temporary Credential:  If you have an active credential in another state and you are a military spouse, you may be issued a temporary credential pending completion of the permanent credential requirements. A temporary credential specifically for military spouses is available under Neb. Rev. Stat. §38-129.01 and is issued for a period not to exceed 1 year. Review the requirements in both the initial and temporary license application to determine which process is right for you. 

To apply for this temporary credential, you need to be a resident of Nebraska and submit the following: 

  • ​Emergency Care Provider application
  • A copy of your military dependent identification card identifying you as the spouse of an active duty member of the United States Armed Forces
  • A copy of your spouse's military orders reflecting an active-duty assignment in Nebraska
  • A copy of your credential from another state or jurisdiction
  • A copy of the statutes, rules, and regulations governing your credential which indicate standards that are similar to Nebraska's licensing requirements.

CE hours must meet the standards of the national component of the National Continuing Competency Program's continued competency requirements or be Nationally Registered at the license level you are renewing.  Refer to Title 172 NAC 11 Section 007 to see all continuing competency requirements for providers.

EMS Service Initial Licensing and Triennial Inspection Additional Information

Renewal Information:

EMS Services must meet the requirements in Title 172 NAC​ 12 for renewal.

Inspections: 

EMS Services will be inspected at least once on a triennial basis.  Your Regional EMS Specialist will be contacting your service when it is due for inspection.  Please feel free to contact your Regional EMS Specialist if you have questions.

CE hours are only one of the continuing competency items needed to renew your license.  Refer to Title 172 NAC 11 Section​ 14​ to see all continuing competency requirements for instructors.​​

License Certification and Verification Requests

License verification requests may be done through the Licensure Lookup System.

​License certification requests may be sent directly to another state licensing agency. Send a written request to the address below and include:

  • Your full name as it appears on your license;
  • Your profession;
  • The address to send the certification to; and,
  • The proper fee – check or money order made payable to DHHS EMS Licensing.

Certification Fee - $25.00 

Certification Requests includes:

  • Name;
  • Profession;
  • License number;
  • Issuance date;
  • Expiration date;
  • Whether the license was granted by examination, waiver, or reciprocity;
  • Examination information, if available;
  • Any disciplinary action taken against the license with the type(s) and date(s) of the action if applicable; and
  • SEAL of the State of Nebraska Department of Health & Human Services.
