Anesthesia/Sedation Permits

Any dentist wanting to provide anesthesia/sedation must apply for a permit prior to providing this service. The permits are issued to the dentist per location where the dentist will be administering the anesthesia/sedation.

Licensed dentists can provide inhalation analgesia without a permit.

Dentists applying to administer general anesthesia/deep sedation and moderate sedation are required to have their office inspected prior to being issued an anesthesia/sedation permit.

If the dentist changes location, he/she must submit a change of location application.

Continuing Education

Renewal of your license requires 30 hours of acceptable continuing education earned during the preceding 24-month period prior to the license expiration date.

A continuing education audit will be performed after the renewal. If you are randomly selected for an audit to provide proof of continuing education, you will be notified by mail.

Retain all documentation of continuing education activities completed for the renewal of your credential for at least four years.

All general anesthesia/deep sedation/moderate sedation permit holders are required to attend at least six hours of continuing education directly related to the administration and management of anesthesia/sedation for the dental office.

The Board of Dentistry expects licensees to attend acceptable continuing education courses. Acceptable continuing education courses are located in 172 NAC 56.

***Do NOT submit continuing education certificates to this office unless you are requested to do so.***

In addition to general license information, this version of the data contains federal controlled substances registration numbers and expiration dates for health care providers that hold a Nebraska license and have submitted proof of holding such federal registration.
