What you need to know

​​​​​​​​Nurse Practitioner Re-entry Program

The APRN-NP re-entry program is designed for:

  • ​Nurse Practitioners who want to reinstate their license from an expired or lapsed status
  • Nurse Practitioners who have not met the 2,080 hours of practice in the preceding five years at the time of application/renewal (unless they graduated within the preceding five years from a NP program)

Step 1 - Review the NP Re-entry Program

Step 2 - Submit the following items:

Step 3 - Temporary Permit

  • ​Once you receive approval for the NP re-entry program, you will be issued a temporary permit. A temporary permit will be issued for the purpose of completing the clinical requirements. ​

Step 4 - Midway and Final Assessment

  • ​A midway and final assessment will be required from the preceptor. Email the DHHS.nursingoffice@nebraska.gov when you have completed half of the required precepted hours. Include the email address of the assigned preceptor. Include your last name and NP Re-entry in the subject line.​
