Active WIC participants do not need to reapply. Current certifications will be honored at a new clinic. The new agencies will contact participants via mail to provide additional notice of the change. To schedule an initial appointment at a new clinic, participants are encouraged to call the clinic of their choice two weeks before the needed appointment date or before food benefits expire. To make this transition as smooth as possible, the new agencies will have access to necessary WIC participant records.
“During pregnancy, access to essential nutrients can have a lifelong impact on both a child's development and a mother's well-being," said Dr. Timothy Tesmer, DHHS Chief Medical Officer. “WIC helps bridge that gap by providing healthy foods, education, and compassionate support that can shape healthier futures for Nebraska families."
