Developmental Disability and Aged & Disabled Waivers, Personal Assistance Services Providers to begin using Electronic Visit Verification tool

In January 2021, some in-home service providers will be required to use an Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) system when providing services. This will apply to providers of services through the Developmental Disability (DD) and Aged & Disabled (AD) Medicaid waivers as well as Personal Assistance Services (PAS).

EVV systems capture details on in-home visits including time and duration of the visit, and require providers to submit claims electronically.  Not all AD and DD waiver services are required to use EVV.  For a full list of required EVV services, please visit http://dhhs.ne.gov/Pages/Electronic-Visit-Verification.aspx and reference the Service Codes section.

The 21st Century CURES Act, passed by Congress in 2016, requires states to implement an EVV system for certain Medicaid services that involve in-home visits by Medicaid providers. All services that require the use of EVV must adhere to this law.

Nebraska has contracted with Tellus to launch a new EVV platform for AD Waiver and PAS providers. These providers must begin using the Tellus EVV system on January 3, 2021. Registration for the new EVV system will begin on December 20, 2020.

Beginning January 1, 2021, DD Waiver service providers using Therap EVV system will start to use EVV to clock in and clock out. Agency providers who will be using 3rd-party EVV systems must begin using these systems on January 3, 2021.

These providers are encouraged to learn about the Tellus EVV system at https://4tellus.com/training/. All providers are also encouraged to make sure their email address, phone number, and mailing address are up to date on their Service Provider Agreement with Maximus via www.nebraskamedicaidproviderenrollment.com or (844) 374-5022.
