What you need to know

​The Child and Family Services Review (CFSR) is a team effort between the federal and state governments to monitor child welfare services in each state.   The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Administration for Children and Families, Children's Bureau conducts the review.

There are 3 phases to the CFSR:

  1. The state develops a comprehensive assessment of child welfare services throughout the state.
  2. An onsite review occurs that is conducted by both the federal agency and the state agency.
  3. The state develops a program improvement plan that it implements over a 2 year time period.

 

The most recent federal review occurred in June, 2017 and the supporting documents from that review can be found below.
