What you need to know

​​The Division of the Behavioral Health (DBH) Office of Consumer Affairs (OCA) has provided an online form to be completed by all trainers/organizations who want to provide Peer Support Core Curriculum Training in the State of Nebraska.

The purpose of the submission form is to obtain approval of training curricula to ensure compliance with the DBH OCA Peer Support Core Curriculum Training minimum standards.

The Peer Support Core Curriculum training must detail the sixty (60) hours of minimum training and be submitted on the online Peer Support Core Curriculum Submission Application form.  Following are guidelines on providing the training and the information that you will need to include with  the online application.

  • Ten (10) hours of Ethics must be included.
  • Forty (40) hours must be live interactions hours.
  • Any hours in excess of 40 may be provided in a form other than live interactive hours and as specified by the  curriculum provider.
  • Live interactive teaching strategies are recommended for the core competencies.
  • All trainers should be identified on the Peer Support Core Curriculum Submission form with detailed contact information and credentials.
  • One of the trainers shall hold a current Nebraska issued CPSWS or CPSS certificate.
  • There shall be no more than 10 students per trainer during each session (1:10 Trainer to Student ratio)
  • Provide your Peer Support Core Curriculum training cancellation/rescheduling policy in the event of inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances
  • All approved curriculums will be posted on the OCA website and contact information for your approved curriculum for people seeking training opportunities shall be included on the online Peer Support Core Curriculum Submission application.

The following documents will need to be uploaded to the application:

  • Upload all materials that will be used to deliver the curriculum such as handouts, power points, videos, assignments, workbooks, quizzes, etc, and refer to the name of the file uploaded and page number(s), as applicable, where each competency can be found.
  • Upload a template of the  'Certificate of Successful Completion' of the Peer Support Core Curriculum training that will be given to participants who successfully complete the 60 hour training. 
  • Upload a copy of the attendance roster trainees will sign in on each day in the morning and after lunch.
