What you need to know

​Child Abuse and Neglect Central Registry

  • Maintains all reports of child abuse and neglect opened for investigation, classified as either Court Substantiated or Agency Substantiated.
  • Any time after the completion of an investigation, the subject of a report may request DHHS amend, expunge, or remove the record from the Registry.

Adult Protective Services Central Registry

  • Maintains all reports of abuse, neglect, or exploitation of a vulnerable adult opened for investigation, classified as either Court Substantiated or Agency Substantiated.
  • Any time after the completion of an investigation, a vulnerable adult, his or her legal guardian, or a person mentioned in a report as having allegedly abused, neglected, or exploited a vulnerable adult believes the information in the report to be inaccurate or the report is maintained in a manner inconsistent with the APS Act, he or she may request DHHS amend, expunge, or remove the record from the Registry
