The federal government has extended the opportunity for Medicaid, CHIP, and dental providers to apply for provider relief funds. The new deadline for applications is August 28, 2020.
Starting the week of August 10, HHS will give another opportunity to Medicare providers who missed the original opportunity to apply for additional funding from the $20 billion portion of the $50 billion Phase 1 Medicare General Distribution. Some providers, including many Medicaid, CHIP, and dental providers with low Medicare revenues, did not complete an application by the original deadline. They will now have until August 28, 2020, to complete an application to be considered for the balance of their additional funding up to 2 percent of their annual patient revenues.
Additionally, owners of provider practices who experienced financial challenges as a result of a change in ownership can also apply for relief funds. Many of the original payments sent for these providers from HHS were sent to previous owners, due to data from past payments. Applications for these owners are available from August 10 to August 28.
