The State of Nebraska currently licenses all Emergency Medical Responders (EMR), Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT), Advanced Emergency Medical Technicians (AEMT), Emergency Medical Technician-Intermediates (EMT-I), Paramedics, Emergency Medical Services (EMS), EMS Instructors and EMS Training Agencies and Distributive Learning Organizations
The State of Nebraska requires all Emergency Medical Responders, Emergency Medical Technicians, Advanced Emergency Medical Technicians, and Paramedics to be licensed as an Out-Of-Hospital Emergency Care Provider. Individuals who are licensed as an Emergency Medical Technician-Intermediate may renew and reinstate only.
Applications may be completed online; however, they must be printed, signed and mailed to the Department for processing along with the required supporting documents.

The fee for reinstatement of a license is $35.00.

The State of Nebraska licenses Emergency Medical Services as Basic Life Support and Advanced Life Support. Services can apply for either a transport or a non-transport license.

The Nebraska Board of Emergency Medical Services is comprised of 17 individuals that are appointed by the Governor to serve five-year terms and can be reappointed when their term expires. Members include representatives of each licensure classification of out-of-hospital emergency medical care providers, physician medical directors from each congressional district, training agencies, basic life support and advanced life support services, licensed nurses and the public.
The Board advises the Department of Health and Human Services on all issues related to the regulation of emergency medical services. The meetings are open to the public with the exception of investigational and other confidential matters. Agendas for these meetings are posted at least 10 days prior.
