Requirements

License and Sanitation Requirements: Please see the regulations and statutes for complete requirements.

Please read the application instructions carefully. They provide more information on the requirements for obtaining a license.


All services (cosmetology, nail, and esthetic) can be provided under the same establishment license as a separate license is not required for each type of service. Massage therapy services can also be provided under a nail technology salon license without obtaining a separate establishment license. 

NOTE: A school of cosmetology is not required to be licensed as a school of nail technology in order to provide a nail technology training program.

Renewal and Reinstatement

  • Salon license expiration date: 9/30 of odd years.
  • School license expiration date: 12/31 of even years.
  • Salons and schools cannot reinstate an expired license. Submission and approval of a complete new application is required before the business may operate.
