A pharmacy that owns and runs a remote dispensing pharmacy is a supervising pharmacy. The supervising pharmacy must have a separate remote dispensing pharmacy license.
The remote pharmacy must be at least 10 miles from the nearest pharmacy when it is issued the license. It is staffed by Nebraska certified pharmacy technicians. The Pharmacy Practice Act defines remote dispensing as using remote supervision. A real-time audiovisual communication system used by a Nebraska licensed pharmacist is used to supervise the pharmacy technician. Nothing can be dispensed if that system is not working properly.
Inspections Remote dispensing pharmacies are inspected before a license is issued. They must submit a Pharmacy Quality Assurance Report (PQAR) annually.
