YRTC - Lincoln

The Lincoln facility was established in 2020 to care for youth with high acuity behavioral needs.  Youth are placed at the Lincoln facility for a short time to stabilize their behavior through intensive behavioral management treatment that incudes individual therapy, TARGET trauma informed treatment approach, Moral Reconation Treatment (MRT), and behavioral analysis provided by behavior specialists.  Each youth's educational needs are assessed to provide appropriate academic programming working toward graduation.  School at YRTC-Lincoln is an extension of West Kearney and West Hastings.  The school offers:

  • APEX virtual learning
  • CTE Coursework  
  • Guidance Counseling for college and career interests  
  • MAP Testing  
  • NSCAS Testing 
  • ACT Testing  
  • Renaissance/STAR Assessment 
  • Read 180 interventions

  • ACCUPLACER Testing   
  • Access to Vocational Rehabilitation/Department of Labor services  
  • Transition Services 

YRTC - Kearney

YRTC-Kearney operates West Kearney High School, an on-campus junior/senior high school. The Nebraska Department of Education has accredited the educational program as a special purpose school. The school operates year-round and the youth are enrolled daily. The school program offers:

  • Academic classes
  • Map Testing
  • Math 180
  • Read 180
  • Renaissance /Star
  • Special Education
  • Guidance Counseling for college and career interests
  • ACT Testing
  • Family / Life Skills
  • Art
  • Access to Vocational Rehabilitation/Department of Labor services
  • Media and Technology Areas
  • GED classes/preparation within a regular classroom setting

The school program centers on courses that are required areas for graduation in Nebraska. Youth can earn their high school diploma while at the YRTC.

YRTC-Kearney offers an eight-week summer school program. Each class meets the required number of hours to equal a full semester of regular schoolwork. 

YRTC - Hastings

A key part of the treatment plan at the YRTC-Hastings is the educational program. YRTC-H operates an on-campus junior/senior high school for female juveniles. The Nebraska Department of Education has accredited the education program as a special purpose school. The school operates year-round.

The school program offers:

  • Academic, core, and elective classes
  • Title I and Special Education Services/Read 180 & Math 180
  • MAPS testing in Reading and Math
  • Guidance counseling for college and career interests
  • Access to Vocational Rehabilitation/Department of Labor services
  • ACT testing
  • College classes through Southeast Community College, Metro Community College, and other colleges/universities as needed

The school program centers on courses that are required areas for graduation in Nebraska. Youth can receive their high school diploma while at the YRTC with required credits earned. 

YRTC-Hastings offers an eight-week summer school program emphasizing courses online with APEX.  Each class meets the required number of hours to equal a full semester of regular schoolwork. 

West Hastings School will be accredited through Nebraska Frameworks as a Rule 10 School in 2023.

PRTF - Whitehall

Morton School and Nebraska Youth Academy on the Whitehall campus are state accredited interim school programs (Rule 18).  This offers youth at Whitehall an opportunity to earn high school credits that transfer back to their home schools. Students at both Morton School and Nebraska Youth Academy primarily use a blended approach to learning that includes direct instruction by teachers as well as the use of Apex Learning, a computer program that allows each student to progress at his own level and at his own rate. 
Each youth's educational needs are assessed to provide the appropriate track for them.  The school offers:
