Providers Will Still Be Able to Bill for 5 Absent Days Per Child Per Month
Lincoln – On April 15, 2020, the Nebraska COVID-19 Pandemic Executive Order No. 20-18 temporarily suspended regulations related to absent day billing. This suspension allowed open, staffed, and licensed child care subsidy providers to be paid when an eligible child was not in attendance due to the COVID-19 emergency. However, on June 30, 2021, Nebraska's State of Emergency was lifted which set Executive Order No. 20-18 to expire on July 30, 2021. After July 30 providers can no longer bill for an unlimited amount of absent days each month.
In addition, changes were made to Child Care Subsidy Regulations that took effect in September 2020. These changes allow for any child care provider to bill up to 5 absent days per child per month regardless of the reason for the child's absence.
