What you need to know

Nebraska Medicaid is dedicated to supporting Tribal Healthcare Providers that serve Nebraska Medicaid members. Recognizing the unique healthcare needs and cultural considerations of Tribal members, we work collaboratively with Tribal communities and their healthcare providers. Our Tribal Liaison serves as the main point of contact to ensure that the distinct needs and Federal provisions for Tribal Healthcare Providers are fully considered.

There are numerous federal laws, regulations, and treaties that impact the administration of healthcare for American Indians and Alaska Natives. This webpage provides information for Tribal Healthcare Providers enrolled in Nebraska Medicaid.

Encounter Rates and Tribal / IHS Guidance and Regulations

Each year Indian Health Service (IHS) approves the All-Inclusive Rate (AIR), also known as the encounter rate. This outlines the reimbursement rate for inpatient and outpatient medical care provided by IHS and 638 Tribal Health Facilities for Medicaid beneficiaries. These rates are published periodically in the Federal Register.
