The purpose of this program aims to support ethical and evidence-based health programs for children, as well as encourage healthy habits for both families and children.


The Children's Health initiatives are supported by funding from the Title V MCH Block Grant and the Nebraska Partnership for Mental Healthcare Access in Pediatrics (NEP-MAP). NEP-MAP collaborates to develop advise and advocate for programs that advance the mental health of Nebraska children 0-21 years old. Under the Title V Maternal Child Health Block Grant, the MCH program also leads children-related work. The program builds partnerships to improve the health and well-being of children in Nebraska. These are the main projects the Children's Health initiatives focus on:

NEP-MAP
The Nebraska Partnership for Mental Healthcare Access in Pediatrics collaborates to develop advise and advocate for programs that advance the mental health of Nebraska children 0-21 years old. The Nebraska Partnership for Mental Healthcare Access in Pediatrics (NEP-MAP) informs, advises, and advances the works of the Pediatric Mental Healthcare Access Grant in Nebraska.

Oral Health​
Through the Title V Maternal Child Health Black Grant, the Nebraska Office of Oral Health and Dentistry conducts many dental disease prevention activities across the lifespan throughout the state. The "Early Dental Health Starter Kit" project has increased access to essential dental services such as oral screenings, topical fluoride, and dental sealants.

Children Safety and Well Being
The Nebraska-Maternal, Infant, and Early Childhood Home Visiting Program (N-MIECHV) is evidence-based, utilizing the Healthy Families America model of home visiting. They offer support for pregnant or parenting families of children birth to age 5 who may struggle with significant life stressors. Bring Up Nebraska is a statewide prevention partnership to advocate for local community collaboratives that keep children safe, support, and help families address life's challenges before they become a crisis.
