What you need to know

​​The Consolidated Appropriations Act (PL 116-260) was signed into law on December 27, 2020, by former President Donald Trump. Supporting Foster Youth and Families through the Pandemic Act (H.R. 7947) was included in the Consolidated Appropriations Act and provides funding to every state to support youth and young adults who may have faced challenges with housing, food, education, and health needs as a result of COVID 19 pandemic. The Department of Children and Families Services (CFS) in partnership with Nebraska Children and Families Foundation has developed the Nebraska Older Youth Support Services Relief Program to provide financial assistance to older adults between the ages of 23-27 who have had previous out-of-home foster care experience between the ages of 14 and 19.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Experienced out-of-home foster care placement between the ages of 14 and up to their 19th birthday;
  • Was in the custody of Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Child Welfare or formally in the Office of
    Juvenile Justice through DHHS or Tribal Authority;
  • A current resident of Nebraska; and,
  • Are currently age 23 or older and have not reached their 27th birthday at the time of application.

The Division Children and Families Services (CFS) and the Nebraska Children and Families Foundation (NCFF) are partnering to implement this program to support older adults who meet eligibility requirements and have been negatively affected by COVID 19 pandemic. You must submit an application to be considered. Applications must be received by September 24, 2021.
