Lincoln – The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services' (DHHS) Medicaid and Long-Term Care Division (MLTC) has completed the Fall 2023 Medicaid Listening Tour across the state.

“I want to thank everyone who attended this year's fall Listening Tour meetings," Interim Medicaid Director Matthew Ahern said. “It is crucial for our team to receive engagement and feedback from stakeholders to ensure that we are continuously making improvements to the program that positively impact those it serves."

Throughout October and November, MLTC held 12 meetings in 10 communities, along with two virtual meetings as part of “Navigating Medicaid: Exploring Updates and Changes to Health Plans, Coverage, and the Unwind" Listening Tour. These meetings allowed Medicaid to gather feedback from providers, members, and advocates about changes expected to the program in 2024, as well as learn more about areas of improvement.

The tour was centered around updates to the Medicaid program, such as the new managed care contract with Molina Healthcare, policy updates to postpartum coverage, continuous eligibility for children, and dental updates. During these meetings, those in attendance were also made aware of open enrollment and iServe, Medicaid's new integrated application portal.

After a presentation of the updates, members of the public were able to ask questions and give feedback on the Medicaid program. Additionally, representatives from the health plans in attendance were able to answer questions from those in attendance.

“During the tour, we collected feedback from both members and providers," Ahern said. “There was excitement about the upcoming changes and eagerness to share feedback that will allow us to better understand what stakeholders want to see within the program."

Nebraska Medicaid plans to continue the listening sessions on a biannual basis, with the next sessions tentatively scheduled for early next year in the spring.
