Applicants must demonstrate a working knowledge of the issues that affect individuals with developmental disabilities and their families, experience working with and/or advocating on behalf of individuals with developmental disabilities, and a history of conducting education in the activity area identified in the application. NCDD strongly encourages applications from organizations that are located in rural or urban poverty areas, organizations that employ staff with disabilities, and/or organizations that represent linguistic and cultural minorities.

Researchers with a doctoral degree in science (PhD or equivalent), or a professional degree in a medical field (MD, DMD, DVM, or similar) are eligible to submit a proposal to the Stem Cell Research Advisory Committee as a Principal Investigator. The Principal Investigator must be employed at an institution in Nebraska that meets the criteria for a sponsoring institution (see above). Researchers that are classified as post-doctorates or fellows are not eligible to apply.

The Nebraska Cancer and Smoking Disease Research Program was created by the Nebraska Legislature in 1981, when one-cent (1¢) of the tax per pack of cigarettes sold in the state was designated to fund the program.
A portion of the revenue generated from the tax also funds the University of Nebraska Eppley Institute for Research in Cancer and Allied Diseases and the Cancer Registry at the Nebraska Department of Health & Human Services.

Through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) has been granted $5,000,000 to award up to $2,500/semester scholarships to Nebraska Nursing Students. These scholarships will help to reduce barriers to entry in the nursing field and grow Nebraska's public health workforce. Each scholarship recipient will play a vital supporting role in rebuilding Nebraska's public health infrastructure and will advance the state's recovery from COVID-induced nursing shortages.
