The State of Nebraska provides forensic mental health services to individuals involved with the criminal justice system in a variety of contexts, including court-ordered competency and insanity evaluations for criminal cases, competency restoration treatment, and treatment for individuals adjudicated Not Responsible by Reason of Insanity and committed to the State Hospital for treatment.
Competency restoration treatment is offered on an inpatient basis at the Lincoln Regional Center, as well as an outpatient basis (OCR) for individuals determined to be appropriate and safe for community-based treatment. OCR must be approved and ordered by the committing court.
