Lincoln – The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is pausing planned changes to the federally required Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) System for Nebraska Medicaid Personal Assistance Services (PAS) and Home and Community-Based Service (HCBS) providers.
DHHS appreciates the dedication of caregivers who support Nebraskan citizens most in need. While the changes to the EVV system are required to enforce compliance with federal regulations (21st Century Cures Act), the Department has listened to concerns and is providing more time for implementation, working with all stakeholders to ensure a smooth transition. The new implementation date will be January 8, 2025.
“While these program changes are federally required, we understand that change can be difficult. DHHS is committed to working with all stakeholders to ensure a smooth transition takes place," said Medicaid and Long-Term Care Interim Director Matt Ahern. “The pause in implementation will allow us to have further conversation and outreach."
DHHS has already responded to stakeholders by hosting additional forums for providers and the public. Further outreach is being planned and will be announced soon. For updates and information on these changes and future stakeholder engagement, visit https://dhhs.ne.gov/Pages/Electronic-Visit-Verification.aspx.
During this pause, providers are encouraged to comply with state and federal regulations including those that will be enforced by the upcoming changes.
