Notice of Public Hearing​

The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), Office of Economic Assistance is holding this hearing to accept comments on the proposed state plan for the Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) for the period of October 1, 2024 through September 30, 2026. Interested persons are invited to submit written comments or to attend and comment at the hearing.​

The Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) is a federal, anti-poverty block grant that provides base funding for Nebraska's nine local Community Action Agencies (CAA). These agencies create, coordinate and deliver programs and services to low-income families in all 93 counties of Nebraska.

Services Provided by CAAs

The CAAs conduct community needs assessments to determine services that will be provided in each region. The services provided by the CAAs are based on the needs of their community, such as:

  • Food and nutrition programs
  • Housing
  • Abuse prevention and intervention
  • Family parenting classes​
  • Head Start, Early Head Start, and Migrant Head Start
