Alzheimer's disease is a progressive disease that destroys memory and other important mental functions.  This includes attention, social awareness, learning, motor function, and language. This interferes with a person's ability to live on their own. There are an estimated 33,000 Nebraskans currently living with Alzheimer's and dementia-related diseases. By 2025, this number will increase to 40,000 Nebraskans.

On June 28th, 2016, the Nebraska State Plan for Alzheimer's Disease and Related Dementias was shared. It's goal is to provide Nebraskans living with dementia and their caregivers the information and support they need to keep them safe. This infographic highlights the importance of the State Plan.
