According to a 2007 study reported in the Journal of Athletic Training, sports are second only to motor vehicle accidents as the leading cause of traumatic brain injury in individuals ages 15 to 24. It’s widely agreed that concussions and head injuries are under-reported. The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services surveyed head coaches in 2015. Results indicate concussion injuries affect young athletes across the state in a wide variety of sports. |
