All five license types are required to have liability insurance.

Step 2: If your program will be in the following cities, review the specific information that may apply to you:

Lincoln - Carbon Monoxide Detector Requirements
Lincoln - Impact Fees
Lincoln - Zoning Information
Omaha - Certificate of Occupancy Requirement - Child Care Center

Step 3: Submit the application and ALL information for the type of care you intend to provide (Forms), along with the required fee (Fees). The application includes instructions and a list of required information.

Step 4: You will be issued a Provisional License for the first year of operation if Children's Services Licensing determines that:

  • All required information has been submitted; and
  • You are in compliance with all regulations at the time of your onsite inspection

Once a Child Care/Preschool program has completed a provisional license year and is in compliance with all regulations, they must apply for a non-expiring OPERATING LICENSE if they wish to continue to provide licensed child care.  Licensees will receive written notice from Children’s Services Licensing 90 days prior to the expiration of the provisional license.
