Student Loan & Loan Repayment Programs

There are various types of incentive programs available for health professional students and licensed health professionals.  The Nebraska Office of Rural Health staff can assist individuals with these programs.

The Nebraska rural incentive programs include the Nebraska Student Loan Program and the Nebraska Loan Repayment Program.  Awards are made by the Rural Health Advisory Commission.  These programs are managed by the Nebraska Office of Rural Health.

The National Health Service Corps Loan Repayment Program is a federal loan repayment program administered by National Health Service Corps (NHSC) staff in Kansas City and Washington, D.C.  The Nebraska Office of Rural Health staff work with the NHSC staff to approve sites to participate in the loan repayment program if they are located in federally approved shortage areas.  The application process for this program is through the National Health Service Corps web site.

The National Health Service Corps State Loan Repayment Program (NHSC SLRP) is a federal grant program administered by the Nebraska Office of Rural Health staff.  Loan repayment awards are available to health professionals practicing in federal shortage areas.
