Pregnancy Risk Factors

Research indicates that some infants are at a higher risk of SIDS because of certain risk factors that have been identified.
  • Low birth weight (less than 5 pounds)Pregnant Mom
  • Premature (less than 37 weeks)
  • Maternal smoking during pregnancy
  • Multiple births (for example: twins, triplets)
  • Maternal age younger than 18 years

  • Less than 18 months between births
