Water Well Contractor means the principal officer, director, manager or owner-operator of any business engaged in the construction or decommissioning of water wells.
Water Well Monitoring Technician means any individual engaged solely in the measuring of ground water levels, the collection of ground water samples from existing water wells or the inspection of installed water well equipment or pumping systems. This person does not need to work under a water well contractor and may NOT supervise the work of others.
Natural Resources Ground Water Technician means any individual employed by a natural resources district and engaged in the inspection of chemigation systems, measuring and recording static water levels, inspection and servicing of flow meters and water sampling practices and techniques and may NOT supervise the work of others.
Pump Installation Contractor means the principal officer, director, manager or owner-operator of any business engaged in the installation of pumps and pumping equipment or decommissioning of water wells.
Pump Installation Supervisor means any individual engaged in the installation of pumps and pumping equipment or the decommissioning of water wells. Such supervisor may have discretionary and supervisory authority over other employees of a pump installation contract and must be employed by a pump installation contractor.

Requirements for Licensure:
To qualify for licensure you must:
Qualifications: To receive a credential to practice as a licensee under the Act, an individual
must meet the following qualifications:
Age and Good Character: Be at least 19 years old and of good character; C
Citizenship/Resident Information: Be a citizen of the United States, an alien lawfully admitted into the United States for permanent residence under the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) and who is eligible for a credential under the Uniform Credentialing Act, or a nonimmigrant whose visa for entry, or application for visa for entry, is related to such employment in the United States.
Examination: Pass the applicable examination(s) with a score at least 70% on each examaination;
Comply with the Water Well Standards and Contractors’ Licensing Act and all standards, rules, and regulations; and
Furnish proof of a current public liability and property damage insurance in the sum of at least $100,000 if applying for a contractor’s license.
To qualify for licensure you must submit the following:
A complete application;
The applicable licensure fee;
Proof of Age: Evidence of at least 19 years of age (i.e.: driver’s license,birth certificate, marriage license, school transcript, US State ID card, Military ID, or similar documentation);
Proof of Citizenship, lawful permanent residence, and/or immigration status: You must submit a copy of at least one of the following documents:
A U.S. Passport (unexpired or expired);
A birth certificate issued by a state, county, municipal authority or outlying possession of the United States bearing an official seal;
An American Indian Card (I-872);
A Certificate of Naturalization (N-550 or N-570);
A Certificate of Citizenship (N-560 or N-561);
Certification of Report of Birth (DS-1350);
A Consular Report of Birth Abroad of a Citizen of the United States of America (FS-240);
Certification of Birth Abroad (FS-545 or DS-1350);
A United States Citizen Identification Card (I-197 or I-179);
A Northern Mariana Card (I-873);
An Alien Registration Receipt Card (Form I-551, otherwise known as a “Green Card”);
An unexpired foreign passport with an unexpired Temporary I-551 stamp bearing the same name as the passport;
A document showing an Alien Registration Number (“A#”) with visa status; or
A form I-94 (arrival-departure Record) with visa status.
Court records and letter of explanation if convicted of a misdemeanor or felony;
Official court records, which includes charges and disposition;
Copies of arrest records;
A letter from you explaining the circumstances surrounding the conviction;
If the conviction involved a drug and/or alcohol related offense, all addiction/mental health evaluations and proof of treatment (if treatment was obtained and/or required); and
If you are currently on probation, a letter from your probation officer addressing probationary conditions and your current status.
NOTE: If you have any criminal charges or license disciplinary actions pending that results in conviction or license discipline, you are required to report such actions to this department within 30 days.

To apply for a Temporary Hardship License/Certificate you must submit the following:
Completed
application for the license;
A written description of the hardship; and
The appropriate fee.
The Department may grant this license/certificate without examination provided that all other requirements are fulfilled by the applicant when the current license holder/certificate holder for the same contractor has died or for other good cause which must be shown and approved by the Water Well Standards and Contractors’ Licensing Board.

Renewal Information
All licenses/certificates expire December 31st of even-numbered years.
To renew a license, the licensee must submit the Renewal Notice, meet the continuing education (CE) requirement, and pay the licensure fee.
Renewal fees are the same as the initial licensure fees.
A renewal notice will be sent out to the last known address of record at least 30 days prior to the expiration date.

Notarized affidavit of 12 hours of continuing education (CE) each renewal
Proof of Completion of CE hours (certificate, sign in sheet)
12 hours of approved continuing education are required for renewal of your license. These credits must have been earned within the 24 months proceeding the date of expiration. Hours completed prior to this time will not be accepted as continuing education. Hours earned in excess of the requirement may not be carried over for the next renewal period.

Duplicates/Reissue
Duplicates: A duplicate large license or small license card may be requested at the time of initial licensure.
Reissue: A large license and/or small license card may be reissued when the licensee requests: additional documents; replacement of original document(s) due to loss, mutilation or destruction; or replacement of document(s) due to a name change.
