Renewal, Continuing Education & Reinstatement

Renewal Information

On or before May 1 of each odd-numbered year, each acupuncturist who is licensed in the State of Nebraska must submit to the DHHS Division of Public Health:
  • A completed application
  • Attestation related to renewal requirements for continuing competency; and
  • Payment of the renewal fee of $121.00

Continuing Competency Requirement for License Renewal

As a condition for renewal of his/her license, earn one of the following in order to meet the continuing competency requirement:
  • 50 hours of continuing education approved by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM); a. Hours are to be earned within the 24 months immediately preceding the date of expiration, except that a licensee who has earned more than the 50 hours required for license renewal for one 24 month renewal period, is allowed to carry over up to 25 hours to the next 24 month renewal period; or

  • 50 hours of Category 1 continuing education approved by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) or the American Osteopathic Association (AOA); a. Hours are to be earned within the 24 months immediately preceding the date of expiration, except that a licensee who has earned more than the 50 hours required for license renewal for one 24 month renewal period, is allowed to carry over up to 25 hours to the next 24 month renewal period; or

  • Active certification or active recertification of diplomat status with the NCCAOM earned within the 24 months immediately preceding the date of expiration.
