Community Service Block Grant (CSBG)

The Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) is a federal, anti-poverty block grant that provides the base funding for Nebraska’s nine local Community Action Agencies (CAA). These nine agencies create, coordinate and deliver programs and services to low-income families in all 93 counties of Nebraska.

Some of the services provided include food and nutrition programs; housing services; abuse prevention and intervention; family parenting classes; Head Start, Early Head Start and Migrant Head Start; as well as health programs. More than 13,000 seniors over the age of 55 took advantage what CAAs offer, including Foster Grandparents, Retired Senior Volunteer Program, congregate meals, and transportation programs.

* NEW - The proposed CSBG State Plan for Federal Fiscal Year 2015 and 2016 is available for public viewing and public comment.  The public hearing will be August 14, 2014 at 9AM in Lower Level Conference Room A of the Nebraska State Office Building, 301 Centennial Mall South, Lincoln, NE 68509.
