The Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) is a federal, anti-poverty block grant that provides the base funding for Nebraska’s nine local Community Action Agencies (CAA). These nine agencies create, coordinate and deliver programs and services to low-income families in all 93 counties of Nebraska.
Some of the services provided include food and nutrition programs; housing services; abuse prevention and intervention; family parenting classes; Head Start, Early Head Start and Migrant Head Start; as well as health programs. More than 13,000 seniors over the age of 55 took advantage what CAAs offer, including Foster Grandparents, Retired Senior Volunteer Program, congregate meals, and transportation programs.
