Vaccine Tracking System provided by CDC (VTrckS)

Background

The Vaccine Tracking System (VTrckS) is an information technology system from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) that integrates the entire publicly-funded vaccine supply chain from purchasing and ordering to distribution of the vaccine. The comprehensive vaccine tracking system includes provider enrollment data from provider enrollment forms, patient benchmarking information from provider profiles, provider vaccine inventory and doses administered from monthly usage reports, vaccines ordered from vaccine order forms. VTrckS is used to order, and optionally to track and record information relating to publicly funded vaccines.

The data are program-level for ongoing surveillance.

Data Collection Method and Availability

VTrckS is a web-based system and is updated in real time. The system contains information about vaccines ordered and shipped to providers to include lot numbers, expiration dates, and status of vaccine orders. The system also contains information about vaccine inventory on hand, doses administered and vaccine waste/returns.  VTrckS data has have been collected since December 2011.
