Summer School Food


Children need good food all year long, even when they are not in school. The Department of Education’s Summer Food Service Program provides healthy meals to qualified children age 18 and younger. Sites are inspected to ensure that food safety and food sanitation standards are being met.

Type of Data

The data are program-level for ongoing surveillance.

Data Collection Method and Availability

The database is used to verify that an inspection is conducted at each school on the Nebraska Department of Education’s list. Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services staff conduct inspections annually. The data has been collected annually since 1998.
