Projects and Activities

This page features descriptions of past and current projects of the Joint Public Health Data Center, as well as publications that result from Data Center projects.

Infrastructure

  • Co-directors: Ming Qu and Ge Lin
  • Formed Advisory Board: The purpose of the Board is to provide guidance on the overall direction of the Center, provide input and feedback on future projects, and promote the dissemination of data and information.
  • Established DHHS and UNMC offices, work team, and staff.

Data Information System

  • Data Linkage/integration: Nebraska cancer registry was linked with the women’s cancer screening data and hospital discharge data. Nebraska cerebrovascular disease data (CVD) were linked with hospital discharge data, EMS data, and death certificate data.
  • Data Server: all data sources are be housed in a centralized repository at Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services.

  • "Racial disparities in non-fatal injuries of Nebraska motor vehicle crashes from 2004 to 2008". This project was accomplished using Nebraska motor vehicle crash data from the CODES program.

  • "Predicting 30-day and 1-year mortality of Nebraska myocardial infarction patients from 2005 to 2009." This project was finished based on Nebraska cardiovascular disease data from the CVD program at DHHS.

  • "Relationship between preterm, low birth weight births and their related factors based on Nebraska PRAMS data from 2000 to 2010." This project was accomplished using Nebraska Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System (PRAMS) data.

  • "Creating a master index table through linking Nebraska birth certificate data with marriage data and death data from 2005 to 2010." This was a pilot project completed by integrating Nebraska vital records from 2005 to 2010.
