Nebraska Incident Based Reporting System (NIBRS)


Crimes are reported to law enforcement and persons arrested or cited for crimes. The Nebraska Commission on Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice’s Information Services Division maintains several statewide databases, with statistical information collected, compiled, published and released on a regular basis. Research and statistical information are available to assist in planning and policymaking at the local, state and federal levels.

The data are crime data for ongoing surveillance.

Data Collection Method and Availability

Law enforcement agencies report monthly on crimes reported to them as well as arrests and citations for crimes. The data have been collected annually for 17 years.
