The Nebraska Clean Indoor Air Act (NCIAA) seeks to protect the public health and welfare by prohibiting smoking in public places and places of employment. The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services, local health departments, and law enforcement are empowered to implement NCIAA by receiving complaints, conducting inspections, and disciplining as necessary. Information regarding enforcement activities is maintained in a database housed within the Office of Environmental Health Hazards and Indoor Air.

Data Collection Method and Availability
Complaints about possible violations of the NCIAA are taken by web-form, email, phone, and mail. These complaints are entered into the database as well as provided to the local public health departments for follow-up action. Follow-up action (inspection, notification, enforcement) is also entered into the database.
