Magellan Treatment


Background

Through contractual arrangements Magellan Behavioral Health, Inc., as the Administrative Service Organization maintains a set of data that enumerates the registrations, authorizations, reauthorizations annual re-registration and discharge characteristics of those persons admitted to substance abuse, mental health and compulsive gambling programs in Nebraska funded by the Division of Behavioral Health. Data extracts are available that contain demographic, social and economic characteristics of the service population as well as limited enumeration of the number of service units provided to program participants.

Type of Data

The data are census for ongoing surveillance.

Data Collection Method and Availability

Data are collected by local service providers (non-profit agencies) who participate in the public Nebraska Behavioral Health System under contract or subcontract with the Division of Behavioral Health. Data have been entered into the Magellan Provider website into the corporate databases from which an extract is developed for the Division of Behavioral Health. Data in the extract are from November 2003 to October 2012.
