The Nebraska State Immunization Information System (NESIIS) is a secure, statewide, web-based system that was developed to connect and share immunization information among public clinics, private provider offices, local health departments, schools, hospitals, and other health care facilities that administer immunizations. The data can be used to analyze trends in immunizations, identify pockets of needs, produce reminder/recall notifications, and recommend future immunization needs.
Type of Data
The data are population-based for ongoing surveillance.
Data Collection Method and Availability
NESIIS is populated with birth records from the Office of Vital Records. Birth doses of Hepatitis B are populated from the Newborn Hearing Screening System (which is part of the Vital Records database). Real-time data collection started in 2001.
