Kids Connection is an expansion of Medicaid as health care coverage for
qualified children who are without other health insurance and who do not
qualify for Medicaid. Federally called the Children's Health Insurance
Program (CHIP), it provides the same services covered under Medicaid.

What are the benefits of the program?

  • Improve the access and continuity of care for children age 18 years and younger.
  • Establish consistent preventive care.
  • Reduces state administrative burden to establish eligibility.
  • Improves Medicaid’s goal of easier and faster enrollment/eligibility process.

How physicians can become providers:

Kids Connection is an expansion of Medicaid (Title XIX), making Medicaid providers automatically eligible to provide health care services to CHIP (Title XXI) eligible children. To serve Kids Connection clients, providers in Cass, Dodge, Douglas, Gage, Lancaster, Otoe, Sarpy, Saunders, Seward and Washington counties need to be enrolled in the UnitedHealthcare Community Plan and CoventryCares of Nebraska networks.  Providers for the remaining 83 counties need to be enrolled in the Arbor Health Plan and CoventryCares of Nebraska networks.
