Nebraska Medicaid Program
Adult Institutions for Mental Diseases (IMDs)
Nebraska Medicaid is currently working through a compliance plan with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) related to Adult IMDs. As updates and information are available they will be posted to this page.
An IMD is defined as “a hospital, nursing facility, or other institution of more than 16 beds that is primarily engaged in providing diagnosis, treatment, or care for persons with mental diseases, including medical attention, nursing care, and related services.” Medicaid reimbursement is not available for any people between the ages of 21 and 65 years old who are living in an IMD.
