   Medicaid Information

Medicaid is a federal-state partnership program administered in the state by the Department of Health and Human Services. In Nebraska, Medicaid is available to certain low income persons including persons who are aged, blind, disabled, children and others who meet eligibility requirements. Kids Connection is part of Nebraska Medicaid that provides medical assistance to children age 18 and younger.

For information on how apply, visit the Medical Assistance link under Medicaid
or visit Access Nebraska.

Nebraska SMP Program works closely with the Medicaid Program Integrity Unit to guard against and investigate fraud, abuse and waste of Medicaid program benefits. Nebraska SMP and the Program Integrity Unit have collaborated in mailing a Medicaid Tip Sheet to randomly selected Medicaid beneficiaries every month with their Explanation of Benefits statement.

SMP also coordinates and refers cases of fraud, abuse and waste with the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit (MFCU) housed in the Nebraska Attorney General’s Office. The MFCU is designed to uncover, investigate and prosecute Medicaid provider fraud and patient abuse and neglect.

A new federal government website related to Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance Program has been launched.  http://medicaid.gov includes a section for consumers to help them get information about the Medicaid and CHIP program in their state and links to www.healthcare.gov where broader information on health coverage options is available.
