Scared WomanREALIZE. RECOGNIZE. RESPOND.
Call the Nebraska Adult & Child Abuse & Neglect Hotline 1-800-652-1999 or Local Law Enforcement to report suspicious activities that may look like trafficking situations.

What is Human Trafficking?
Human Trafficking is a form of modern day slavery.

Sex trafficking is recruiting, harboring, transporting, providing, or obtaining a person for a commercial sex act that is induced by force, fraud, or coercion. When the victim is under 18, no force, fraud, or coercion is necessary.

Labor trafficking is recruiting, harboring, transporting, providing, or obtaining a person for labor or services, through the use of force, fraud, or coercion for the purpose of subjection to involuntary servitude, peonage, debt bondage, or slavery.

What the Department is doing to prevent Human Trafficking?
The Division of Children and Family Services partners with the Nebraska Human Trafficking Task Force (NHTTF) and is an active member of this team.

In the fall of 2016 the Department helped in the NHTTF effort of training more than 800 professionals across Nebraska.  That same year, the Division trained more than 600 staff to recognize Human Trafficking, how to prevent this from happening to the families we serve and what resources are available if trafficking does affect them.

The Division has updated policies to comply with the Preventing Sex Trafficking and Strengthening Families Act.

The Department maintains strong working relationships with local, county and state law enforcement agencies to maintain the safety of children and families in our state.
