CFS will administer the formula grant awarded to Nebraska by the Administration for Children and Families for the Family Violence and Prevention Services Act in addition to state general funds appropriated for protection from domestic abuse.  CFS has involved the Nebraska Domestic Violence Sexual Assault Coalition to assure an equitable distribution of funds within Nebraska and between urban and rural areas.   In distributing the funds, the Division will give special emphasis to the support of community-based projects of demonstrated effectiveness carried out by non-profit, private organizations, particularly for those projects where the primary purpose is to operate shelters for victims of family violence and their dependents, and those which provide counseling, advocacy, and self-help services to victims and their children.
