Community Service Block Grant (CSBG)

The Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) is a federal, anti-poverty block grant that provides the base funding for Nebraska’s nine local Community Action Agencies (CAA). These nine agencies create, coordinate and deliver programs and services to low-income families in all 93 counties of Nebraska.

Some of the services provided include food and nutrition programs; housing services; abuse prevention and intervention; family parenting classes; Head Start, Early Head Start and Migrant Head Start; as well as health programs.

More than 13,000 seniors over the age of 55 took advantage what CAAs offer, including Foster Grandparents, Retired Senior Volunteer Program, congregate meals, and transportation programs.

The proposed CSBG FY2017 and FY2018 State Plan is available for public comment until August 18, 2016.  Please see attachment below and submit comments to Jennifer Dreibelbis at the address provided.
