Training and Development
Licensed Child Care providers are required to complete certain training requirements prior to becoming licensed as well as maintaining 12 clock hours of training annually.
The following is a list of training requirements for licensed Child Care providers:
  • Two-hour orientation training provided by the Department
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training;
  • First Aid training;
  • Safety training to include: Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS), safe sleep, shaken baby syndrome, and child abuse/neglect and reporting;
  • Business Management Training module for family child care homes developed by the Early Childhood Training Center (ECTC);
  • Nebraska‚Äôs Early Learning Guidelines Training
  • Annual training must include but is not limited to the following topics: safe environments, healthy environments, learning environments, physical development, cognitive learning, communication, creative learning, self-esteem, social development, guidance, family relationships, program management, and professionalism.
